Plan your camping trip in advance by deciding what kind of stove you would like to use. There is a wide variety of propane powered cookers, Camping Gaz, Coleman camping stoves, double and single burning, refillable propane gas tanks and other fuel sources

>> See Popular BBQ Grills & Accessories

24 Hour Shipping & Free Gift on Select Grills

The Modern camping cook stove is both powerful and lightweight with designs to make cooking easier while in the outdoors. Outdoor camping stoves come in a variety of sizes and designs. Gas camping stoves come in basically three different categories: multi-burner family camping stoves, single burner backpacking , and expedition stoves.

Outdoor Camping Stove Fuels – Each has its advantages and disadvantages

Most have the same basic design of a burner or burners attached to a fuel source. Your intended use will determine which stove and fuel type is the best choice. If you do some car camping and have little room extra and need to heat up a can of chili from time to time then a single burner propane stove may be the way to go. Maybe even a can of sterno if money and space is tight.

Fuel Types

Understand the pros and cons of the different types of fuel, which are liquid fuel and pressurized gas canisters. I personally recommend only two real choices – Coleman style screw on propane canisters or white gas -Coleman liquid fuel.

The most popular fuel source is white gas, which performs well in all weather conditions. White gas is readily available all over but may not be outside the U.S

White Gas Stoves

The white gas stoves will produce the most heat of any outdoor camping stove. The white gas stoves now come in “dual fuel” versions. This allows you to use unleaded auto gas in addition to the white gas. A lot of people use the auto gas and are happy with it. Nevertheless it is smelly and if you spill it on something or get it on your hands, it’s hard to get rid of the odor.

I recommend using only the white gas in the dual fuel stoves. If you run out and can’t buy any white gas – then use the unleaded gasoline. The main advantage of using unleaded gasoline over white gas is cost. This is the only advantage to the dual fuel stoves. I feel the extra cost for the few gallons of white gas used each year is worth paying so you get the cleanliness of this fuel.

Pressurized Gas – Propane, Butane

The next most popular fuel source is propane gas canisters. If simplicity of use is your main concern use a pressurized gas stove. The fuel is made from blends of butane and other gases. Gas canisters are not refillable and must be thrown away when empty. You cannot check to see how much fuel is left in the canister when using pressurized gas. When using white gas, it is easy to check remaining fuel.

Pressurized gas stoves can be lit as soon as the fuel canister is in place. No pumping, priming, preheating the burner.

Liquid white gas burns hotter than the “propane – butane” gas and works better in windy, cold and low atmospheric conditions therefore it is the primary fuel for most expedition stoves. Most often it is lighter and cheaper to use liquid fuel than gas fuel due to the gas canister being heavier and has to be purchased each time. Liquid fuel does not burn as cleanly as gas and is more difficult to regulate the temperature. As for as transporting it’s somewhat safer to carry a gas canister in the trunk of your car than a bottle of white gas.

One last note: Make sure you know how to use your outdoor camping stove before going camping, use it at home instead of waiting until you’re in the field.

Portable propane generators have so many great and flexible uses compared to piped or cabled mainline energy and is safe, easy to refill and store from BBQ use to car fuel and main home use

> See BBQ Portable Propane Powered Grills

Due to the sudden and most often unwanted fluctuations in the main source of energy that fuels all the equipment, we use either at home or in whatever business industry we are in, portable propane generators have been a surprisingly useful invention.

Apart from standby energy sources, this wonderful invention has also been considered life saving.

Such use has been proven during cases of unwanted calamities such as typhoons, floods and tornadoes where most electric supply is out mainly because the post where the energy passes from the main line is often hit and worst-case scenario, posts are seen down on the ground severely damaged or floating on the gushing flow of water. For ease and comfort, various types of standby energy sources are found in the market today.

This type has actually gained so much popularity these days because of the many benefits it has over other generator types. This kind is also more known to many as liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) fueled standby energy sources. LPG is propane in gaseous form, which is a product of the processing of natural gas and crude oil refining.

Although a non-renewable fuel source, propane is considered safer to use and does not have much hazard on the environment for it only emits minimal carbon dioxide. In addition, because propane in the form of LPG is contained in safe cylinders, it is very easy to fill in and connect the source to any appliances.

Portable Propane Generators – Instant Energy Source With Ease

It is also not difficult to refill propane once the supply on your portable propane generators had gone low or out for distributors are found almost everywhere and one might just be around the corner of your house. In contrast to gasoline-fueled equipment, propane has a longer shelf life so storing it will not be a problem.

Apart from so much ease, portable propane generators also provide so much safety and comfort to users. It is portable and tanks are often not heavy, moving your unit to the desired place where you are going to use it will not be a hassle.

This kind of generator is also considered fire-free mainly because of the security posed by the container especially during refilling. This contrasts greatly against gasoline-fueled products where fire hazards are very common during refueling, or even when it is stored.

Aside from this posing danger, gasoline fueled units also tends to be more messy especially when it is spilled on floors leaving an unwanted stubborn stain and foul odor. Gas spills can also readily contaminate the environment. Units with propane are considered more health friendly.

Propane is virtually an odorless gas, refueling will involve minimal fumes exhausted and these are nontoxic. It is easy to detect leaks with this type of generator by observing a rotten-egg smell around the house. Amazingly, this invention also appears to be more cost effective because it provides efficient energy output to costs.

Is propane is a clean burning fuel and a good alternative for other more traditional fossil fuels?

The current fuel options on the market range from the fossil fuels we’ve been using for many years to the hybrid electric cars now made by all auto manufacturers. There are many other potential fuels as well such as biofuel and ethanol that can now be a realistic way to power your engine. Propane may not sound like much of an alternative to petroleum but it actually is.

Most of us already make use of propane for cooking on barbecues or to power outdoor accessories. Though some people have propane vehicles, it isn’t as common as petroleum.

Propane is a gas that is converted to a liquid form in order for it to be used. It must be converted so that it is in a portable form and can then be put in tanks and moved. Though propane is derived from fossil fuels, it tends to be much safer. It is perfectly safe for heating homes instead of using natural gas. It may be wise to consider using it for vehicles as well since propane clearly does have some advantages. When compared to natural gas for cooking it proves to be cleaner burning and leaves food much more flavorful.

Propane is given an additive, a certain type of alcohol called ethanethiol. This gives the propane a very distinct scent so that it can easily be detected in the event of a spill or leak. Overall propane is relatively nontoxic. If it is abused as an inhalant it could become very deadly but with proper use it is quite harmless. Another advantage of propane use is that it is often cheaper than gas and tends to last longer with normal driving. It can be a change that eases the tension on your wallet.

A propane powered vehicle might not get as much power as a gas engine but most owners claim not to notice a difference. An added safety benefit is that a propane tank is much stronger than a gas tank and therefore is more resistant to any form of damage such as punctures. Some people make the decision to convert their gasoline car over to propane. This can be done though it does cost thousands of dollars. If you plan to do something like this, be sure to see a professional so it is done correctly.

It’s important to really consider why you want to make the switch to propane

Either way, it is still a fossil fuel and regardless, most fossil fuels are bad for the earth and they are not renewable resources.

On the other hand propane is also regarded as clean and environmentally friendly because its vapor doesn’t cause air pollution and is not harmful if accidentally inhaled and because propane doesn’t pollute drinking water or damage water or soil based ecosystems. In addition it is non-toxic and isn’t counted amongst the greenhouse gases except for emissions from propane combustion and here the level of damaging emissions following LP Gas combustion is well below other carbon based fuels used in vehicles and engines today, well within the requirements for clean fuel vehicles.

Propane fuel is listed as an approved clean fuel by the U.S. Government and it can help to reduce the smog effects created by the use of other combustible fuels such as petrol and diesel

Fueling up can be an issue. You will likely have to make note of each gas station that has propane, not all of them do. If your goal is simply to save a little money then propane may be a great option for you. However, if you wish to make a difference on a global scale then a hybrid or flex fuel may be preferable. Do your research on all fuel types so you know what you’re really dealing with. Information is a major component of going green.

The use of propane has greatly increased over the years

There are several factors for this. In some cases natural gas lines are not available in certain areas. There are no other options that are available. In some cases propane has become of the fuel of choice.

This is especially true when home owners want to avoid an all electric home and cut back on some of the cost of using other fuel alternatives. If you decide to use propane as a fuel source for your home you must consider propane tanks and all of the details that are associated with installation.

Of course propane tanks are necessary to hold and store your fuel source. They are available in many different sizes but all of the construction is just about the same. Most of them are stored above the ground because it is less costly and provides easy access.

>> See a selection of propane bbq grills here

You can store them under ground but it will cost you more money and the access to the tank becomes a problem in some cases. The homeowner can purchase a tank on average from 500 gallons to 1000 gallons. Keep in mind that a tank can not be filled to capacity. You must leave room at the top for expansion of the propane gas. A good rule to follow is to fill it only to eighty percent of capacity. This will ensure safety and security for your tank.

Make sure to contact your local gas supplier when thinking about using propane. They will be able to provide you will solid and accurate details on the system you will need for propane gas usage. They will give you advice on the size of propane tanks and what you need for your home according to what you are going to use for your system. These professionals offer the best advice as to a plan of action and can provide you with the help you need.

There is no doubt that propane is a good source of fuel and provide many homes with an alternative source of power and energy. Putting in a propane system for your home is not difficult and it is not unreasonable in cost. You can investigate the possibilities for your home with a little research and by talking with your local gas supplier.

Author Simon Harris writes about Propane Tanks at http://www.propane-prices.org/ Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Simon_Harris

Propane gas is often a handy preference for outside cooking on portable stoves

Should I start them in the oven first or should I cook them on the propane grill the whole time. Also what cut of ribs is best, I was thinking just regular pork ribs.
Everything would have been cooked on either the bbq grill or on the propane stove/oven. Everything would have come out of my food storage pantry or my garden. I will continue to follow the challange, even though we will be camping

There are two kinds of gas barbeque grills available. One is run on natural gas and the other on propane. The propane gas barbeque grill is the more popular of the two. In comparison to the natural gas, a propane gas grill

BBQ basically involves slow cooking, which can be very difficult to achieve with charcoal grill.
Natural gas has a wide range application because of its high octane power. In a number of countries the use of propane or auto gas is gaining a great following among automobile users as the third most used vehicle fuel after diesel and petrol.

The propane is and odorless, nontoxic flammable hydrocarbon compound made up of a chain of three carbon attach to eight hydrogen elements. This complex mix is also called alkenes that when completely burnt up in extra oxygen will produce water, carbon dioxide and energy of fifty mega joule for every kilogram of propane.

Propane is available as gas but to be used in vehicle it is usually liquefied and mixed with other compounds such as butane and propylene. This makes it portable and potent in terms of the energy it generates.

Other compounds odorant compounds are added to make it easier to detect gas leaks. What makes propane a good alternative vehicle fuel is that it is not messy as diesel and produces less carbon deposit, which means less engine wear and oil changes.

Propane releases less carbon monoxide, toxins and smog than their gasoline when used as vehicle fuel

Safety

A number of individuals promote use of propane as fuel for vehicles since it performs the same as gasoline on new or well maintained vehicle. The liquefied propane is stored under modest pressure making the refueling task as quick as a gasoline refill. Furthermore, there are other propane refueling options for natural gas vehicle fuel enthusiast who can modify their automobiles to use the readily available propane cylinders during emergency. In terms of safety, propane tanks are designed to operate under extreme conditions. The tanks can resist puncture twenty times and up to four times operating pressure. While when it come to operation, propane powered engines have lower maintenance cost due to less wear and tear of parts.

Convenience

When it comes to convenience vehicles that use propane have the same engine and transmission parts. However, they have a different fuel storage and distribution system. Propane powered cars have high pressure fuel tanks that can take stress of over 200PSI before they fracture. In addition, their fuel distribution system has a special pressure storage tank that ensures the engine deliver steady performance even as the fuel pressure continues to declines on the main tank. To ensure that one gets the best performance from their propane engine, they need to inspect and repair their fuel system to keep it in top shape.

A present there are a number of propane powered vehicles being used worldwide. Unofficial estimates indicate that close to nine million vehicles are fueled by propane. Some of the automobiles come ready made from the manufacturers, while a growing number are able to use propane after a relatively affordable conversion process. The cost of fuel propane may be similar to that of gasoline but they give a much lower power performance because they are less dense than gasoline. Propane gives users fuel economy.

What are your fuel options? Is propane one of them?

It’s important to really consider why you want to make the switch to propane? Either way, it is still a fossil fuel and regardless, they are bad for the earth and they are not renewable resources. Fueling up can be an issue too. You will likely have to make note of each gas station that has propane, not all of them do. If your goal is simply to save a little money then propane may be a great option for you. However, if you wish to make a difference on a global sca 1000 le then a hybrid or flex fuel may be preferable. Do your research on all fuel types so you know what you’re really dealing with. Information is a major component of going green.

A car runs on petrol, then on alternative diesel and now another option is propane

Natural gas has a wide range application because of its high octane power. In a number of countries the use of propane or auto gas is gaining a great following among automobile users as the third most used vehicle fuel after diesel and petrol.

The propane is an odorless, nontoxic flammable hydrocarbon compound made up of a chain of three carbon attach to eight hydrogen elements.

What makes propane a good alternative vehicle fuel is that it is not messy as diesel and produces less carbon deposit, which means less engine ware and oil changes. In addition, propane releases less carbon monoxide, toxins and smog than their gasoline when used as vehicle fuel.

A number of individuals promote use of propane as fuel for vehicles since it performs the same as gasoline on new or well maintained vehicles.

At present there are a number of propane powered vehicles are being used worldwide.

Vehicles that run on propane were typically manufactured to run on gasoline and later converted. A vehicle can be converted to run solely on propane (mono-fuel) or to run on both propane and gasoline (the more popular dual-fuel).

Conversion to a dedicated propane or bi-fuel propane vehicle can be attractive when fueling infrastructure is in place and volume fuel discounts are available. The payback period depends on the average distance traveled

A flex-fuel vehicle, such as the ones General Motors is producing, is capable of burning either regular unleaded gasoline or ethanol based E-85 fuel with no conversions or modifications necessary.

The use of propane has greatly increased over the years. There are several factors for this. In some cases natural gas line are not available in certain areas.
